 WHITENING

  • Hydrogen peroxide practically takes a role in dental bleaching, and has the ability to produce free radical (HO-O) in enamel, This radical degrades proteins into low molecular weight peptide and amino acid, to produce watersoluble, clustering to double bond site and finally forming epoxide.(C=C-R->C-C-R).

In this process, double bond is broken and teeth become colorless, that is, oxidation process of hydrogen peroxide leads to dental bleaching.

In other words, free radical produced from hydrogen peroxide is very reactive, and attack other organic molecules such as proteins to maintain stable state in the process of diffusing into tooth.

The radicals react with bond of greatest instauration and break electron covalent bond, thereby producing bright colored simple molecule which make dental bleaching effect. This process is caused by the reaction between hydrogen peroxide and organic matter in enamel.
